O Meskhenet, Goddess of birth and creation, guardian of the sacred birth chamber, we call upon you! For the new beginnings you oversee, and the life you nurture, we seek your favor.
We ask for your support, your guidance, and your unwavering presence.
You who breathe the Ka into every child,
You are the weaver of destiny, the sculptor of souls,
From your womb, the world is filled with wonder.
With gentle hands, you guide the newborn into the light,
You are the protector of the mother, the healer of pain,
Your presence brings joy and hope to every heart,
We honor you, Meskhenet, Goddess of birth,
For you are the embodiment of creation’s grace,

As we celebrate the miracle of life you have bestowed.

Meskhenet is associated with birth, creation, and destiny; her name means “birthing place” as she is the Goddess of childbirth and the protector of women in labor. Meskhenet is not simply a midwife, she is also Goddess of fate who could determine a person’s destiny. She bestowed the ka (soul) upon the newborn, determining their fate and their vitality. In addition to overseeing the birth, Meskhenet was believed to influence the course of one’s life, particularly in the early stages of life, ensuring that the newborn would be cared for, nourished, and protected.
As a Goddess of nurturing and protection, Meskhenet represents spiritual protection and guidance for new journeys and transformations; she is a guardian for those starting new phases of life, whether through literal birth or figurative new ventures and paths.
